Beginner adults daytime (Tuesdays)
$361.60 CAD
DATE/TIME:
Tuesdays 10:00am-12:00pm
TOPICS:
Learn the basics of working with clay. Students will spend part of the class using various hand building techniques, including pinch, slab work, coil building, and moulds. Projects made using these techniques have included small cake stands, coiled fruit bowls, butter dishes, small sauce dishes, and more.
Wheel throwing is taught every class. The studio is equipped with 2 wheels to allow for a lot of instruction from the teacher. Please note students are required to share the wheels, however, because of the small class sizes this is never an issue. Many projects combine wheel and hand building techniques (such as a cake stand with a handmade plate and wheel thrown base).
Decorative techniques will be introduced, including: sgraffito, Mishima, slip trailing, transfer paper, and others based on participant interests. The last class is reserved for glazing and finishing any work.
COST:
Classes cost $320 + hst (total $361.60) for 7 weeks. Materials, access to studio tools, clay (1 bag), glaze, and firing are included. Additional bags of clay can be purchased for $40 and include glaze and cost of firing.
